DIY Shoe Makeover

Hi lovely Ucreate readers! My name is Sibylle (but everbody calls me Billie) and Funkytime is my digital playground. I am a graphic designer/ stylist/ regular German girl with a passion for Photography, DIY Stuff, decorating, fleamarkets & pretty vintage things … I am also married to Thomas and we have two kids, Louisa and Noah. We’ve been traveling quite a bit, from Germany to Los Angeles to Canada… our next destination will hopefully be Australia, because our dream is to be in a tattered old cottage by the sea!

Today I will show you, how to transform some $15 plain cork wedges using fabric and mod podge.

   Total cost for the makeover including shoes were $25. It took me about 4 hours to finish both shoes.   – Cork Wedges – Fabric (not too thick) – Ribbon – Bows – Mod Podge – Felt    1.-2. Lay fabric on the shoe. 3. Trace the edge, where the denim hits the wedge. 4. Cut along your trace. 5. Cut fabric on the upper part, you have to kind of guess the shape. Later you can adjust.   1.-2. Brush mod podge evenly with a medium sized brush on the denim of the shoe. 3. Start gluing fabric from the bottom to the top. Glue as you go. 4.-5. *Optional* Lay piece of fabric against the inside of the shoe and trace, cut and glue. 6. Make little cuts in the curves, so the fabric does not make folds.   1.-2. Brush the buckle with mod podge. Cut 1inch x 3inch piece of fabric and wrap around the buckle. 3. Cut a 2 inch white piece of fabric, fold it in half and sew a ruffle. 4.-5. Attach the ruffle to the shoe by sewing it. *I know, this is a real pain in the butt!* 6. Cut ribbon to the right length, lay it over the ruffle and sew to shoe. 7. Cut fabric for the peep hole, glue on to the shoe.

The mod podge can get a little stiff when it’s dry, so to make it comfortable in the back, glue a piece of felt to the strap. Last but not least: Paint your toenails red, slip your feet into your new creation and walk the walk! Enjoy jealous looks from other girls….;-)
