I was walking around the craft store (Michaels actually), and I saw this wood slice in a rectangular shape. I’ve never seen one of those before in a store, the oval and round ones seem to be more popular, and I picked it up and had an idea.
Since it’s Valentine season I wondered if I could make a faux wood burning effect and make it look like a carved tree with initials! Took it home, gave it a shot, and loved how it turned out!
DIY Wood Slice Tree Tutorial
Supplies:
- wood slice (or basswood plank)
- brown oil-based Sharpie
- pencil and eraser
…that’s it!
Directions:
- Draw an image and write your initials. *note: if you’re not comfortable with drawing print off a design and trace it on with tracing paper.
- Once you have the design just how you like it, trace the pencil marks with the Sharpie.
It really is one of the easiest crafts out there! Display on your Valentine mantel, or use all-year round!
