How to Make a Tassel Bracelet

Hi Everyone, I am so excited to be back guest posting on U Create!

I did one a few years back and I’m so happy to be back with another bracelet tutorial for you guys. I have been out of the blogosphere for a few years, but I’m finally back and there is no better way to make a comeback then here with you.

SPRING is finally coming to Oslo bringing longer days, bright sun and best of all t shirt weather! And with the t shirts comes the wrist stacks. I love a good colorful stack of bracelet and it’s such a nice look for warmer weather. So today’s tutorial kicks off springs bracelet party, hope you like it.

SUPPLIES:

How to Make a Tassel Bracelet

Round beads

Elastic cord

Tassel (If you want to make your own you can find a tassel tutorial here)

Jump ring

Transparent nail polish

Sissors

How to Make a Tassel Bracelet

Start by adding a jump ring to the tassel (you can find the tassel tutorial here). Then add all your beads to your elastic cord, I used 25 but it depends on the size of your beads. Make sure the hole in the beads fit the elastic cord, both come in different sizes 🙂

How to Make a Tassel Bracelet

Then add the tassel to the bracelet and tie it up. I find these elastic cords can be a bit tricky, so I normally to a double knot and then add some transparent nail polish to seal it.

How to Make a Tassel Bracelet

They are super easy to make and look great stacked!! There are so many different beads and colour combos that will work great with these, so hope you guys love them and make some. If so, I would love to see!!!

Do you remember my Flea Market Challenge Post?

Well, today I’m thrilled to show you the final result of my jewelry armoire makeover using Valspar chalky finish paint!

Here’s the BEFORE photo…Jewelry Armoire Makeover - BEFORE

40 Color Valspar Chalky Finish PaintValspar chalky finish paint is available in 40 beautiful, tintable colors at Lowe’s. The hard part is choosing from so many amazing colors. I decided to go with the Trousseau Blue with a lightly, distressed finish.

You can choose from the following finishes:

  • Ultra Matte: Apply chalky finish paint only.
  • Satin: Apply chalky finish paint and then Clear Sealing Wax
  • Distressed: Apply chalky finish paint, sand to distress, and then apply Clear Sealing Wax
  • Antique: Apply chalky finish paint, then Clear Sealing Wax, and finish with a coat of Dark Antiquing Wax

Jewelry Armoire Makeover - Before

Here are the simple steps I used:

1. Make sure furniture is clean.

2. Paint first coat of chalky finish paint in Trousseau Blue with a medium paint brush. Please follow directions on the Valspar chalky finish paint website. Make sure to dry completely for 8-12 hours.

3. Repeat step two with a second coat. Apply additional coats until you’ve reached your desired effect.

4. Distress edges lightly with sandpaper. Wipe off the armoire with a clean cloth.

5. Brush on Valspar Clear Sealing Wax in small sections, using a clean rag to gently and quickly wipe away excess wax. Let dry completely.

6. Add/Replace hardware.

Now for the exciting part! The AFTER photos…

Keep in mind that I didn’t prime or sand this piece one single bit! Easy right?!

I kept the original hardware on the bottom two drawers, and found the knobs for the smaller drawers on sale at Hobby Lobby.

I’m crazy about the result and now I’m looking around my house thinking “what I can paint next?” with Valspar chalky finish paint!

Jersey Rosette Bracelet Tutorial

 We are jujuB!

We have been fans of U Create for years. We love all the inspiration and ideas here and are so excited to join the team for a day! We are just two friends and neighbors who LOVE to craft. Okay, we don’t just love to craft, we are kind of obsessed with it. We love playing with fabric, paper, lace, buttons, sewing, paint, scrapbooking, mixed media, you name it.  We draw inspiration from our darling daughters, fashion trends, antiques, fabric, photography, blogs and whatever excites us at the moment! Right now it’s jersey fabric and rosettes! We get together just to craft at least once a week. Truthfully, since we started jujuB we do it way more than that, but I don’t want to sound so obsessed that you think we are crazy. 🙂 Ok, I, Becky, am a little crazy, and Juliana is what keeps us all together. That’s why we are such a great team! Check out our blog and see what we are up to!

Jersey Bracelet Tutorial

  • Supplies
  • an old T-shirt or some knit
  • soft and flexible sticky backed felt
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun
  • lobster clasp and growth chain
  • ribbon
  • needle and thread
Step #1. So these are some old T-shirts I had. One had a hole in it, the others were worn out and a little too small now… sigh 😉 But I really loved the colors and knew they would make rockin’ awesome bracelets. So go dig through your closet, your kids closet or your even husbands!
You can also use knit. These awesome brights were scored at Hobby Lobby.
Step #2. Cut your fabric into strips.  I thought it was easiest to use my mat and rotary cutter, but you can definitely use scissors.  I cut them into 2 or 3 inch strips. The great thing about these is that it doesn’t have to be exact. The skinnier your fabric strip is, the thinner and tighter your rosette will be. The thicker your fabric is the chunkier and thicker your rosette will be.
If you are using an old shirt you can cut out the back, but the fabric won’t be as stretchy.  Becky had the brilliant idea to cut a strip all the way around your shirt in a circle to get a longer strip. Now your fabric will have more stretch. This piece was too thick so I cut a smaller piece. You’ll want your piece to be roughly 2- 3 inches thick. You might have to play with your fabric and make a few rosettes to see what you like best.
See how it’s rough cut? That’s ok, when you’re done with your rosette you wont even be able to tell. You’ll then want to cut it so you have a long a strip. I cut it at the seam and cut that part off.
Step #3. Get your sticky back felt and cut out 4 circles. I always just grab whatever is closest to trace a circle. Today it was an outlet cover! You can also use, the bottom of a spool of thread, the bottom of a spice container, anything that’s a circle! You will want 2 circles that are a little bigger and 2 circles that are a little smaller. I started with the outlet cover and then cut my second 2 circles smaller.
We can never make just one!!! You’ll only need 4 circles for one bracelet.
Step #4. Create a rosette. If you already have a tutorial you like you can do it your way. If you’re not familiar with making a rosette you can follow the tutorial below. When using knit you’ll want to pull your fabric tight while twisting it.And make sure you glue on the felt side of the sticky back felt.
Ok, so start by folding your fabric in half with the right side of the fabric on the outside.  Tie a knot on one end of your fabric and try to hide the tail, or just cut it off. Then hot glue the knot to the middle of your circle on the felt side.
Twist your fabric around your knot, pulling it tight and hot gluing it down as you go.  Don’t use too much hot glue because you don’t want it to bleed onto the top of your rosette.
Once you have finished your rosette, simply cut the excess fabric and glue the edge down.
Continue until you have 4 rosettes: 2 larger ones and 2 smaller ones.  Aren’t the rosettes too cute?
Step #5. Use the sticky back felt to put your bracelet together. So the first thing you do is get another piece of sticky back felt big enough for your bracelet. Now line up your bracelet the way you want it. Remember, once you put the sticky sides of the felt together you will not be able to move it!
Next, peel off the paper back on your strip of sticky back felt and peel off the paper on your rosette.
Now stick the two sticky sides together. When you place your second rosette, push it right up against the other one as tight as you can. The tighter and closer they are the better.
Step #6. Cut away all the excess felt. You will want to use junk scissors when you do this because the sticky back felt will really gum up your scissors. Cut it as close to the bracelet as you can.
As you’re cutting you’ll notice your rosettes are flopping all over the place. Don’t worry, it’s cool. Now you’ll just want to expose the felt in between the rosettes and hot glue them together. Hold them in place for a few seconds while the glue dries. Repeat in between each rosette.
Step #7. Attach a ribbon down the back. We like using 5/8 in grosgrain ribbon, but you can use whatever you prefer. Cut a strip that’s about as long as your bracelet. Next we are going to hot glue the tips on each end to form a pretty little point.
Once that’s done, simply hot glue the ribbon to the back of your bracelet. Are you getting excited? We’re getting so close now!!
Step #8. Attach your lobster clasp and growth chain to your bracelet. Ok, so get your lobster clasp and wedge it in between the felt and the tip of your ribbon. Then you are going to sew it on.
You don’t want your lobster clasp to rip off, so make sure you sew through the ribbon, felt and rosette to give it as much strength as possible. You’ll also want to use thick thread that wont break easily. Quilting thread works well, but really any quality thread works!
Next use the same technique to attach the growth chain on the other side of the bracelet.
And just like that. You’re done!!! Isn’t it so chic?
They are so fun and comfortable to wear, you’ll be throwing it on with every outfit! Or just  making a million of them to go with every outfit like we have done! Here are just a few that we’ve made!
Happy Rosette Bracelet Making and SHOPPING!

Cutting Mod Podge Paper
One of the things I like to encourage is to let my kids do EVERYTHING  themselves when it comes to crafting. Yep, it’s a little imperfect, but it’s their creation and they are so proud!
That being said, let’s get started!
Start by letting them cut out the shape they want.
Paint the back of the charm piece and place the image on top.  My oldest girl put her picture face down. The youngest put hers face up.  She wanted the charm to be the back of her necklace. 😉
Paint another coat of Mod Podge Wash Out for Kids on the back (or top if you are a 3 year old).  This secures the paper to the charm.

Thread your necklace chain through the top and wear with pride!

How to Make a Statement Bracelet

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had an amazing Easter, what a great opportunity to spend some relaxing/hectic time with family and friends. I hope you got some time to craft as well, if not lets hope the weekend brings it. I am so happy to be sharing a special DIY with all of you.

I’m going to show you how to make a cool statement bracelet. This one will look great combined with both studs and pearls (I’ve already done both and loved it!). Hopefully you will have most of the gear in your craft box, if not there’s nothing like a weekend getaway to Michaels for some goodies.

Hope you are as excited as me to get started!

ucreateDIYbracelet

Supplies Needed:

super glue

leather string

thick gold chain (three links)

gauge wire

waxed string

a lock

4 silver beads/charms

thin silver chain

ferdig ucreate2 (1)

  1. Glue the thin silver chain to the centre link in the gold chain. This is not a necessity it just makes it easier to spin the chain around the entire link.
  2. Finish the whole link and tie the chain together with some gauge wire. I added to extra pieces of chain just to get a bigger “tassel”
  3. Attach the charms or beads to the end of the chains with gauge whire.
  4. Tata, all 4 done.
  5. Tie three pieces of leather string to the gold link with waxed string, I love waxed string, it just stays put and holds together really well.
  6. 7. Tie the lock on with waxed string.

Have fun with it, I sure did!

ribbon chain necklace tutorial
Hi all you fabulous Ucreate readers!!  Words can not express how excited I am to be a guest here today.  I’m such a huge fan of Ucreate.  This is truly a blogging dream come true for me!
My name is Kara and I blog over at Happy Go Lucky.  I’m a 6th grade reading teacher, Navy wife and mother to a very spunky 3 year old.  I started my blog a few months ago to help pass the time while my husband was working nights.  I love sharing easy and inexpensive craft ideas, DIY projects and activities the entire family can enjoy.
Today we are going to make this fun and easy necklace!

Doesn’t that look easy?  I’m going to be honest, the hardest part about this necklace is deciding which fabric flower to add.
Supplies
This is all you need:

ribbon

chain

fabric swatch

needle and thread

pliers

scissors

The first thing you need to do is decide how long you want your necklace to be.  It needs to be long enough to slide over your head.  I made my finished necklace 30 inches so I used chain that was 32 inches and cut the ribbon around 64 inches.  You can make it any length you want it to be, just remember the braid causes the finished necklace to be shorter than what you start with.
To start making your necklace, pull one end of the ribbon through the first link of your chain.   Keep pulling until you have an equal amount of ribbon on each side of the chain.
Now that you have your three strings, you are ready to start braiding.  You can make it as tight or loose as you want.  Keep braiding until you get to the end of the chain.
Once you come to the end of the chain, thread one piece of ribbon through the last link and tie the two ends of the ribbon to form a tight knot.  This will keep the braid from coming undone.  Don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect.  We will cover it up with the fabric flower.
Use the pliers to attach each end of the chain together. And our necklace is finished! Now we are ready to add the fabric flower.

This is the hard part because there are so many great ways to make fabric flowers. I made this flower by cutting12 circles from a lightweight rayon fabric.  I stacked all but 5 of the circles on top of one another a little off center.  Then I took the last 5 circles, folded each one in half twice and layered those on top of the flat circles.  I used my needle and thread to stitch it all together.  Twist the folded circles around, fluff it up, and you have a great looking fabric flower!

ribbon chain necklace tutorial
Using the same needle and thread, attach the flower to the ribbon where the two ends were tied together. Finally, show off your fabulous new necklace that you made and enjoy all the compliments you get!!
How simple is that?
So easy that you will have time to make one for yourself and to give as a fabulous gift.  You can make them in different colors, use various widths of ribbon and fun, funky fabric flowers.  I think a pretty fabric rosette would be really pretty.  The possibilities are endless.
I hope you have fun making your own Braided Ribbon and Chain Necklace with your favorite fabric flower.
I would love for you to come visit Happy Go Lucky and say “Hi!”  I would also be thrilled to see any necklaces you make inspired by this tutorial. Thank you Kari for having me!! It is such an honor to be on Ucreate today!!
